Special Education Teacher- Teacher on Assignment


Position Summary
 
The Special Education Teacher on Assignment position at Commonwealth Charter Academy (CCA) is responsible for providing, managing, and delivering specially designed instructional programs through a virtual platform for learners. Working from one of our Family Service Centers in Pennsylvania, the Special Education Teacher on Assignment utilizes the proprietary relationship management system in conjunction with other technology resources (web conference tools, telephone, internet, and various curriculum tools and applications) to provide instruction, feedback, and support while consulting regularly with learners, caretakers, learning coaches, and others to ensure that each learner successfully receives all supports and services in their Individual Education Program (IEP). 

 

Special Education Teacher on Assignment (TOA) will provide instructional and compliance support to teachers during extended absences to help ensure continuity of services for learners. During these periods, the TOA will collaborate with school leadership and relevant team members to maintain the implementation of special education programming, monitor compliance requirements, and provide guidance as needed.

 

The TOA is responsible for carrying out the day-to-day instructional duties of the classroom, following lesson plans, maintaining a positive learning environment, documenting learner engagement and progress, and implementing accommodations and modifications as outlined in learners' IEPs. The TOA is also expected to communicate any concerns, instructional needs, or learner issues to school leadership in a timely manner.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Remote offices, when in use, must provide appropriate and effective conditions for conducting all duties of the position. Remote office wifi and/or cellular service must be conducive for conducting the full duties of the position and are a requirement to conduct any work from outside of the Family Service Center.
 
Physical Demands
This is largely a sedentary role. Requires the ability to lift, squat, sit, bend, or stand, as necessary. Ability to travel to other sites/locations as needed.
